Recognising and celebrating our talent at M&S this International Women’s Day
In a world where men outnumber women in Digital and Data roles by 4 to 1, it is vital for us to celebrate and recognise the amazingly talented women and future female leaders we have in the Digital & Data space.
As part of our celebrations for International Women’s Day, we decided to launch our first annual Women in Digital and Data award working in partnership with Women in Data and the Gender Equality Network so we can ensure we are shouting from the rooftops about our amazing talent and giving them the recognition they deserve.
Having received multiple nominations for role modelling and inspirational leadership, this year’s winner has been announced as our colleague Louise, Senior Data Scientist at M&S. Louise has been recognised for her positive attitude, leading projects across multiple stakeholders, supporting her team members and being an active contributor to the D&D Community.
“It’s so nice to be appreciated in this way,” says Louise. “The award has mainly made me feel positive about the future of the data team and our data capabilities in the company - I'm looking forward to see who else wins it in the future! I hope to see more diversity in the area of all types, and for us to continue to celebrate the diversity we already have. I also hope the spotlight on this helps others to learn more about the area and the roles, and the exciting work we're doing.” Hear from Louise as she discusses her career journey, her current data role here at M&S and how she is impacting decision making in the business via our podcast above.
Breaking the mould
With six award nominees overall, there is no doubt the talent we have within digital and data here at M&S is impressive. But there is so much work to do when it comes to inspiring other women to break the mould and develop their careers in digital and data.
