We recently caught up with Clint, Head of Security, who explained how our new Service and Safety Customer Assistant role will work alongside his team to keep our customers safe. But what about this role’s customer service responsibilities?

Helen, our Store Manager at Gateshead Metro Centre explains what she’s looking for in her new colleagues:

“It’s essential to be confident and engaging, excellent at communicating and passionate about M&S. The ideal candidate would be really creative around solutions. They would articulate themselves really well too.”

What else are we looking for? Helen is in no doubt:

“The right people for this role can come from all kinds of backgrounds. What is important is that they’re able to manage different situations and cope under pressure. The nature of the job means it calls for a flexible approach to working across the store with a customer first mindset.

“If they want to work in an environment that is fast-changing and fast-paced, then this would be an exciting role for them. Day to day they would be very much customer facing, serving and selling with personality and pride. I think this is a great role for an individual who enjoys customer and colleague interaction. They’ll put the customer at the heart of everything they do.

“This is a chance to work across the entire store and gives the individual a breadth and store wide application that you don’t see in many roles.”
