Million-pound budgets; wonderful stores; hundreds and thousands of items; teams of great colleagues; and a multi-channel retail strategy. These are just some of the things you’ll manage as a Graduate Retail Manager.
Are you looking for a fast-track into a high-powered career, something different to your usual 9-5 office job? Just imagine the opportunities that come with managing an entire store or department, leading and inspiring a team to make every moment special for customers, interacting with thousands of people and balancing a huge budget. And as well as the satisfaction of seeing your decisions making a difference to our customers and business stakeholders alike, you’ll enjoy some great rewards.
To prepare for your Store Management role, you’ll be hands-on in different store areas including Food, Clothes, Home and Store Operations. You’ll learn about every aspect of how a store runs from supply chain to shop floor and all about our brand and our customers. All this will come with serious responsibility early on, but every step of the way you’ll be coached and supported by some enthusiastic colleagues, as well as the people who’ve been there before – our team of experienced managers.
Once your training is complete, you’ll have the leadership skills to inspire a team of Section Managers and really engage and connect with colleagues. You’ll be able to effectively run a sales floor and open up numerous career options.
So if you are outgoing, analytical, calm under pressure and passionate about products; if you can build relationships, think on your feet, spot where improvements can be made to make every moment special for customers – and then have the confidence and determination to make them happen – this could be the perfect programme for you.

Learning and Development
We've plenty of learning opportunities both in store and at our Support Office, which vary according to your scheme. Whether you’re managing people in store, or a valued member of a Support Office team, you’ll be learning while you earn, shouldering real responsibilities and helping to tackle the ever-changing issues of the day. You will be given a specific area of responsibility or a project to manage yourself fairly early on - say yes, it's a great chance to shine.
While we‘ll provide the training tools and opportunities, it’s up to you to take advantage of them. You’ll be expected to use your initiative to identify learning needs specific to you – and have the motivation to meet these needs.
Theory's all well and good, but few plans survive contact with the customer. If you’re based in Support Office, you'll get hands-on, in-store experience through our store attachment programme. Depending on your graduate programme the attachment could be anything from one week to three months.
