Employer of the Year award

We’re always happy when our efforts as an employer are acknowledged, especially when that acknowledgement comes from employees themselves. So you can imagine how we felt when we learned that we were to be awarded Employer of the Year in a national competition run by the National Association of Student Employment Services.

The award recognises an employer who students believe support them well in balancing a part-time job with their university commitments. The chosen winner was our Weston Lock Food Hall in Bath – and Pam, one of the Branch Assistants there, was singled out for a special mention.

Here’s what made the student nominate us. “The most helpful people I have ever met! Very lovely, helpful and understanding, they worked around my needs at university and offered flexible hours. This job isn't offered as a small thing on the side - they want it to be part of my life and for me to enjoy working.”

“It’s a mutually beneficial work relationship where I feel comfortable and will learn many applicable skills. It’s really interesting to learn life skills, develop different types of relationships with people and learn to work in a professional environment. They also offer discount at their store and others which is helpful for us skint students!"

Many thanks to NASES and our nominator, and congratulations to Pam and everyone else at the Weston Lock Food Hall in Bath.
