Now I'm racking up some valuable experience
Getting our products to where they need to be on time and in perfect condition is thanks in no small part to our Operatives, and the world class service they provide.
When you join the Operatives team at M&S, you’ll play an integral part in helping us to become a leading international, multi-channel retailer. Our modern, 900,000 sq ft, fully automated Castle Donington distribution centre holds up to 16 million products and can process a million items a day – more during seasonal periods. But our products don’t pick and pack themselves.
That’s why we need the fast-thinking efficiency and accuracy of our Warehouse and Administration Operatives and Operational Trainers. They’re the people who make sure that everything leaving the distribution centre meets our high quality control levels and is the right product for the right person. They play an integral role in ensuring we deliver on our reputation for quality and reliability.
Choosing a role in this part of our business is a great place to start a career – whatever your skill level or specialism. If you already have experience of an automated environment, then that’s good news too. We can help you achieve your potential and transform your career as you do the same for our distribution network.
Warehouse Operative roles are also available through our agency partners GI Group and Tailored Recruitment Services (TRS). These opportunities are, in the first instance, on a temporary basis with the potential to convert into a permanent role in the future.
What’s more, we’ve a special work placement programme in place to help those who face barriers in gaining employment. In partnership with Remploy, Marks & Start Logistics provides individual training and work experience to support people with disabilities and health conditions into work at our Castle Donington distribution centre.
Our Warehouse colleagues are the lifeblood of M&S Logistics. They’re the people who look after the day-to-day operations of Castle Donington’s facilities – working together as a team to achieve great results.
Alongside the forklift truck driving, the loading and unloading and the picking and packing of products ready for despatch, there’s plenty of other activities going on – each as rewarding as the next.
These opportunities are, in the first instance, on a temporary basis with the potential opportunity to convert into a permanent role. To register and apply, please e-mail email@example.com
We’ve Admin Operatives working in teams to support our inventory, planning and performance. Join this part of the business, and you’ll play a key role in helping to further improve our Logistics operations by driving our capacities and identifying future constraints.
Through close data analysis, reporting on everything from warehouse capabilities through to stock levels, you’ll help influence Head Office on product lifecycle and much more. In turn, this can then feed into refining product dispatch and replenishment – two areas it’s crucial we constantly monitor and improve.
Let’s not forget those who work as Operations Trainers, either. This role is essential in allowing us to continually improve what we do and how we do it. As one of our Trainers, you will identify the operational training and development needs of your colleagues, then use your knowledge and experience to help teams and individuals gain new skills and abilities.
Working as an Operative
The strength of our Operative team lies in its diversity. Our warehouse colleagues are responsible for the picking, packing, loading and unloading of a huge range of products, making sure each and every store and customer gets exactly what it is they’re after.
