Teamwork has taken us a long way at M&S – and being one of our Team Leaders could see you go a long way too.

Whether you join us in operations management or planning and performance, inventory management or administration, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our products flowing. 

Here’s some more detail around what each of these areas does – so you can figure out where you’ll best fit in.

About you

Great leaders with a background in a similar automated environment excel here. You’ll also need strong communication, analytical and organisational skills, as well as a commercial mindset. 

Operational

Operational Team Leaders oversee the process flows for the entire distribution centre. As well as directing daily, weekly and monthly activities to meet and exceed our business requirements, you’ll devise training and development strategies for your team.

By showing the right leadership qualities, you’ll motivate everyone to perform at their best and deliver first-class service performance. 

Planning 

In Planning and Performance Management, you’ll oversee data analysis using tools such as Excel and Microsoft Access. This will involve interrogating and navigating numerous warehouse management systems to spot opportunities and write reports that sharpen performance and improve processes. At the same time, you’ll be using systems such as forecasting and planning modules to generate labour requirements, working closely with agency providers to bring in resource as required. 

Inventory 

Managing the team focused on inventory management and performance, your ability to analyse and collate data will help us track the movement of products in, around, and out of the distribution centre. This will enable us to deliver even greater inventory management and tighter warehouse processes.  

You’ll be a strong leader and oversee the accurate, daily monitoring and analysis of inventory processes - from managing product levels and movement to measuring the volume of orders in peak periods. Overall, you’ll help us better interpret the nature of the business and allow for forward planning and management of seasonal changes to business volumes, growth and replenishment.
