Functional Area Managers
Our distribution centre in Castle Donington is divided into different functional areas and each has its own team on hand to keep things running smoothly.
As a Functional Area Manager, you’ll keep a close eye on operations, monitoring performance, making sure the right resources are in place, and finding new ways for us to improve the way we work.
Operations, planning and inventory are our three key functional areas. In whichever one you join us, you’ll give your team clear direction and ensure every shift is as productive as possible.
This means taking the lead on motivating, training and developing your team in line with our business requirements; providing them with the opportunities they need to grow their skills and knowledge.
You’ll be an exceptional all-round manager. At home in a fast-moving automated environment, you’ll have rock-solid operational experience together with the commercial insight to get the job done, safely and on time. A strong people focus is essential too, as well as the experience to drive quality and best practice.
Alongside this, you’ll have experience of managing large, complex teams in one or more of the following areas:
- Start ups in a distribution centre environment
- Boxed automation
- Hanging garment automation
As an Operations Functional Area Manager, you’ll work with your team to maximise the performance of your functional area. This will include both boxed and hanging products, with the functions broadly split into inbound, storage and replenishment, picking, packing and outbound despatch. By using your ability to lead and motivate your colleagues, you’ll help us to deliver the first-class service for which we’re renowned.
Providing expertise and solutions in labour and capacity management, along with some performance management, will be key in this role. Applying your knowledge of forecasting and schedule planning technology, you’ll identify resource requirements, then liaise with our onsite agency staff service provider to make sure the necessary resources are available. You’ll also oversee the time and attendance system, as well as inbound and outbound vehicle scheduling.
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to manage a cross-functional department, providing warehouse operations with the data, advice and support that enable efficient and optimum inventory solutions to be reached. More specifically, you’ll be looking at stock shrinkage, warehouse occupancy levels and optimising warehouse management functionality. We’ll also look to you to deliver the process improvements that allow us to strengthen our Distribution operation.
